Diabetes is one of the worst afflictions because it is only treatable, not curable. One of its many drawbacks is the fact that it requires constant attention. The patient needs to keep track of every insulin injection and various vital signs like his blood sugar and pressure, pulse and others. These must be written down in a notebook, provided by a doctor, but notebooks can get lost. A software will never get lost. That is why My Daily Readings is a good substitute for that notebook. It lets you create a database with your daily insulin doses, vital signs and more.

My Daily Readings is free and it does not require advanced knowledge to be installed. You will have to download a 12 Mb archive which contains the setup kit. After running it, you will only have to specify a destination path and click a few buttons and the installation process will begin.

After launching My Daily Readings, a large window, with a black background, will appear on your screen. It contains only three options, placed on the window's center. The first option is for creating a new database and it only requires typing the patient's first and last name in a small window, within the main one.

The second option, on the main window, is for opening a database. Clicking it will display a list with the created databases and you may access one by double clicking one of them. A new window will appear, where you can insert various statistics, such as the date and time of the reading, a person's blood sugar, pulse, blood pressure (systolic & diastolic), weight, injected insulin, dosage and the injection site. It is possible to insert multiple readings and switch from one to another with next and previous buttons. They are sorted automatically by their dates and you can also print a report or print it to the screen.

The software can display separate graphs for blood sugar, pressure and weight. It is possible to access bar or line charts which will illustrate various combinations like blood sugar by date and time, by date and weight, by date and blood pressure and so on.

Pros

The software is free and it can be used to keep track of a person's vital signs and insulin intake. Databases can be created and accessed with great ease. This makes My Daily Readings an excellent replacement for the traditional pen and notebook.

Cons

The interface's window within a window approach is a bit uncomfortable. With its wide range of statistics and easy to understand features, My Daily Readings offers one of the best solutions for recording and tracking medical readings.
